We at BioID are committed to maintaining the privacy and security of the Personal Information of all the visitors to this website.
Our contact and registration forms require users to provide certain personal information, including contact data. We use this to send information about our company, technology, products, and services, such as whitepapers, technical documents, product brochures, and other marketing materials, and to help you manage your BioID account if you have one. This information may be used to contact the visitor when necessary. Visitors may opt out of future mailings.
Otherwise, at this website BioID does not actively initiate any collection of any individual information. We passively collect information that is automatically sent to us by your web browser. This information typically includes your domain name (the part after the @ in your e-mail address). It may also contain your user name (the name before the @ in your e-mail address). The amount of information sent depends on the settings you have on your web browser; please refer to your browser’s help if you want to learn what information it sends. At this site we do not actively seek to identify any individual visitor, with the exception of investigating security breaches or cooperating with authorities pursuant to a legal matter.
BioID will not share with a third party any information collected at this site or information voluntarily provided through contact and registration forms. Because of the nature of the Internet, we may transmit the information to another country, but within BioID, for purposes such as for storage, or because of where our servers are located. We may also use it to investigate security breaches or cooperate with authorities pursuant to a legal matter. We may also remove all the personally identifiable information and use the rest for historical, statistical or scientific purposes.
If you e-mail us, you are voluntarily releasing information to us. Your e-mail address will be used by BioID to respond to you.
You send us information about yourself. We handle it with care.
If you register for a BioID account, only your email is required to link you to the account. If you choose to enroll your biometrics, either through our Playground or other websites or mobile apps, your biometric information will be maintained by us in order to provide the necessary services associated with your BioID account.
All of our biometric services are based on the BioID Web Service (BWS), a service that enables developers to easily and securely integrate biometrics into their applications.
BWS itself collects the biometric information you provide during enrollment or recognition as snapshots, audio or video files (collectively referred to as raw biometric data), encrypts them for transmission, and extracts your unique biometric features. For enrollment this data is then transformed into biometric templates, which are encoded, irreversible, anonymous mathematical representations of your unique biometrics. BWS requires only biometric templates in order to provide the service for you. This information can only be used by our service or any devices or applications you have allowed to access your account, and is inaccessible from anywhere else. Your template is stored anonymously, without any personally identifiable information such as your email address or username.
By default, your raw biometric data submitted to BWS are deleted after the template is created; third party services and applications are required to inform you prior to storing any of these raw data. In the case of your BioID account, the raw biometric data used for your enrollment, whether enrolled through our Playground or other websites or apps we provide, are stored on our cloud service so that you can examine them, for the sole purpose of helping you understand how the technology works and how you can improve your enrollment for better performance. Your BioID account is managed by BioID Connect, which is a separate application independent of BWS. Only BioID Connect can link your personal information to your biometric data stored at BWS; thus your template stored in BWS is completely anonymous. You can view and manage these from your profile page. If you delete all data here your template will be deleted and you will not be able to log in with your face or voice until you enroll again.
If you have a free account, your account including your template and all raw biometric data will be deleted if your account is inactive for an extended period of time. You will be notified via email before this happens. Paid accounts and the associated biometric information are not deleted due to inactivity.
If you are using your BioID account via the BioID app, the only data stored in the app itself is your UserID and UserName or email. No other personal information, photos or biometrics are stored on your device.
If you share your biometric information with us, we handle it securely and anonymously.
