Iris recognition

The intricate structures of your irises evolved and became mature in the first few years after you were born, and will remain stable throughout your life. They are extremely detailed and are as unique as fingerprints, even for identical twins.

However, capturing this amount of detail would normally require higher resolution than the average webcam or camera phone offers. To compensate, BioID's patented technology works simultaneously for both irises even with a regular webcam. Specifically, the authentication software:

1. Captures several images in a video stream
2. Finds your eyes in each image
3. Crops only the iris (or whatever part of it is visible), eliminating interference from glasses, eyelids, and lashes
4. Processes the images based on our patented algorithm
5. Extracts unique features in your iris patterns
6. Compares these features to features extracted when you registered
7. Decides if they match
