Border control

Increasing crime and growth in international travel have combined to substantially slow down border control processing. Biometric identification is emerging as the preferred core technology to improve security and reduce processing time.

ICAO, the normative organization for travel documents, together with ISO, has developed standards for biometric passports. The document holder's biometric information is stored on a chip embedded in the document. When deployed worldwide, biometric passports are known to have the necessary features to prevent fraud and protect against international crime and terrorism.

Verify biometric ID documents

To address the security and processing time problems, BioID has developed two solutions to read and authenticate biometric passports:

eBorder supports the border control agent as well as travelers (passport or visa holders) with fast and reliable biometric border control security. The system reads the biometric information and flags border control agents in case of a problem.

eGate enables an almost fully automated border control processing of pre-enrolled, trusted or frequent travelers.

Both solutions work independently of specific biometric methods (fingerprint, facial recognition, and/or iris scan) or specific hardware manufacturers. They can easily be adapted to meet customer-specific needs, and can be implemented with required procedures and existing software and hardware infrastructure.
