HumanScan GmbH, a leading biometric authentication solutions developer,
offers the BioID SDK, the first multimodal biometric system that can be
easily integrated into existing network applications and protection systems
to greatly enhance security, privacy and user convenience.
BioID uses three human traits in definable combinations, simultaneously
- face, voice and lip movement - to ensure high recognition
accuracy, tolerance and maximum access protection. With BioID it becomes
possible to protect sensitive information and capital assets throughout
the enterprise - from information transferred over corporate
networks and the Internet to physical access control.
The BioID SDK can be fundamentally used anywhere, where persons must
be clearly identified, and in applications where conventional protection
devices like PINs, passwords, keys or cards are currently used. This inherent
flexibility allows organizations to custom-fit BioID within the organization
based on the need for biometric authentication over time.
Selected basic features include:
- Automatic handling of camera and/or microphone input devices
- User enrollment wizard
- User recognition (verification or identification)
- Selectable combination of face, voice, lip movement recognition
- Template storage to database, local PC or Smart Card
- Automatic logging and Log-viewer
Advanced features include:
Development/integration features:
- BioID SDK (API Toolkit)
- Adaptable client interface
- Supports BioAPI
- Provides special BioID functions via BioID API
Summary of BioID SDK Facts
- Based on the core strengths of the BioID technology:
- True multimodality:
The ability to analyze three biometric traits, face, voice and lip movement simultaneously.
- Low-cost implementation:
Requires only a standard camera (e.g. USB) and microphone.
- Easy to use and unobtrusive recognition:
Users simply look into the camera and say, for example, their name.
- Software modules provide enhanced flexibility
to allow the customization of user enrollment, recognition (identification
and/or verification) and user management functions to fit project requirements.
Additional components allow BioID to be integrated into web applications,
physical access systems, or used with smart cards.
BioID SDK Benefits
- Increased speed, accuracy and flexibility: The
improved algorithmic increases BioID recognition speed and accuracy and
permits potentially unlimited number of users. BioID can be used for identification
and/or verification in the authentication process:
Verification – the system confirms
whether the person in question is actually the person who he or she claims
to be. Their current biometric traits are compared only with their pre-recorded
reference data (1:1 comparison).
Identification – a current biometric
data set is compared against all the reference data of various persons
recorded at an earlier time (1:n comparison).
- Enhanced Usability: The BioID graphic user interface
is streamlined, making operation simple even for users and administrators
with no prior biometrics experience.
- Reduced Template Size: BioID SDK has reduced the
BioID template size (the biometric
reference patterns of the person to be recognized) from formerly 270K,
than 16K to now about 6K. The reduced templates can be easily transferred
over the Web for Internet-based applications, or stored onto a smart card,
or USB token for ID or physical access solutions.
