BioID's support of BioAPI
The BioAPI Consortium has released version 1.1 of the BioAPI specification. According to this specification, a biometric vendor may be called "BioAPI compatible" when he supports a certain subset of the functions specified. To use those BioAPI compliant functions, the vendor has to provide a so called "Biometric Service Provider" module, abbreviated BSP.
BioID provides a BSP which supports all required and most of the optional functions and capabilities according to the BioAPI specification. This BSP (BioID_bsp.dll) is provided within the installation in the BioAPI subfolder. Please refer to the BioAPI 1.1 Reference documentation to install it correctly within the BioAPI. Please also note that a correct BioID installation is necessary for the BSP to work. The BSP has been tested successfully with the supplied BioAPI sample program and a generic BSP test application, developed by HumanScan, that abides by the BioAPI specification as far as possible.
Please note that, although there is currently a major support of the BioAPI specification, HumanScan will continue to support more and more of the whole function set. Here you can find the currently supported BioAPI Functions.
Also please note that the available functions of the BioID-API are much more powerful than the supported BioAPI functions.
More information about the current version of the BioID BSP for BioAPI can be found in the corresponding
manual.
