New computing concepts:
testing the limits
of future computing hardware.
ADVANCE
BioID is part of a consortium for the Asynchronous and Dynamic Virtualization through performance ANalysis to support Concurrency Engineering (“ADVANCE”) project, funded by the European Community Seventh Framework Program (FP7). The project consortium consists of 10 universities and industry players including SAP and Philips. The goal of the project is to develop new hardware virtualization technology to handle the demands of future multi-core hardware architecture in a way that is transparent to the programmer and meets requirements such as resource utilization and power consumption.
Our contribution to this project is to participate in two work packages and to evaluate the models and techniques developed in the other technical work packages (WP2–WP6) using a set of reference applications (in our case, multimodal biometric applications). This work package will ensure that end-user perspectives will be incorporated into the design, validation and evaluation of developments in the project.
